CINCINNATI, OH. - A 20-year-old Louisville, Kentucky man has been convicted for a string of sex crimes that occurred in the area of the University of Cincinnati.
During his sentencing on March 15th 2013, Walter Alexander was reportedly found guilty of four charges of the original 10 count indictment for Attempted Rape and Burglary. Court documents show that 6 counts were dismissed by Judge Melba Marsh on October 12th 2012 seven months after Alexander's arrest.
Alexander pled guilty of Sexual Imposition, two counts of Attempted Rape and one count of Burglary in September of 2012 in exchange for the October dismissal.
"He was grabbing students inappropriately, unwanted advances in some cases, and entering rooms that were unlocked." UC Police Chief Michael Cureton said at the time of Alexander's arrest.
According to WLWT, a judge sentenced Walter Alexander to two five-year sentences, then ordered them to run consecutively, back-to-back for a total of 10 years.
Prosecutors said during sentencing that Alexander touched women inappropriately in Calhoun and Siddall Halls and touched another woman in the area of the College-Conservatory of Music. One woman, who Alexander forced to the ground during one attempted rape only managed to get away when Alexander was unbuckling his pants in order to rape her.
"The good news is that in the Attempted Rape charges those victims struggled and were able to get away and then through very good police work and investigation he was caught, arrested." said Julie Wilson, spokeswoman for the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office.
In court, Alexander apologized for his actions and thanked the judge for giving him the opportunity to seek help for his problems.
