Price Hill Murder Cincinnati
A teenager is gunned down by two men in a Cincinnati neighborhood.

CINCINNATI - Deore Tye, 17, was gunned down on a street corner late Sunday, despite warnings and advice for him to get off the corner before something happened to him.

Tye died a few steps from Braun's Deli near the corner of West Liberty and Illif streets.

"(The night clerk) heard the shots, 'bam, bam, bam,' five times," the deli's owner, Andy Sawadeh, said.

Sawadeh said Tye was a regular around the store and sometimes would help him carry heavy loads. He said Tye couldn't seem to pull himself away from people and places that he shouldn't have been associated with.

"I keep telling him to move. I actually told him that three times this Thursday. I told him to move out of the corner because, you know, it's tough and a hot spot. Everybody's targeted," Sawadeh said.

Dwight Young's BLOC Ministries now controls three sides of this West Price Hill corner, but not the one where Tye died. He said his group had worked with Tye for several years, trying to steer him and other troubled youths away from the streets.

"It's not perfect. Obviously, it's not there yet after all the stuff that's been happening last night. But, we know if we weren't here, it would be much worse," he said.

Police looked for the gunman as friends laid out a small memorial for the slain teen.

"I think it speaks volumes about how deep and hard the problems are to solve," Price Hill neighborhood leader Pete Witte said.
