SWAT Team Frees Hostages From Teen Burglars
19-Year-Old and 16-Year-Old Under Arrest For Burglary And Kidnapping

Two hostages were rescued and their kidnappers under arrest on the southside of Indy.
INDIANAPOLIS - One man and a teenager were in custody late Wednesday afternoon after police say they tied up a couple who happened upon them burglarizing their home.
The incident began in the 5300 block of West Southport Road when a man and his wife came home to find a 16-year-old boy and 19-year-old Dionte Ramsey in their home. Police say the two teens tied up the couple.
The wife was able to operate the speed dial on her phone to call her brother. She shouted things to the teens, asking them not to hurt them, and the brother heard and called police.
Police surrounded the house and went to the front door. The two suspects let the husband answer the door, forcing him to pretend everything was OK. But, the husband was able to communicate to police that there was a problem.
The 19-year-old and 16-year-old then took the couple’s pickup truck, taking the couple along with them at gun point, police say.
Police chased the stolen vehicle shortly before it crashed into a tree. Police caught Ramsey and then caught the 16-year-old behind a home in the 8200 block of Mann Road in Indianapolis after a brief foot pursuit.
Police say both the teens are facing felony charges of armed robbery, criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, battery and kidnapping. The 16-year-old’s identity isn’t being released yet but it's likely that he will be charged as an adult.
Kidnapping is a Class A Felony. Under article 35.42.3 of Indiana Code of State Law this is punishable by a minimum of 20 years in prison with a maximum of 50 years possible. Both suspects face two counts of Kidnapping apiece meaning they the two are facing a combined 200 years in prison on the Kidnappings alone.
