Montez WagnerCINCINNATI, OH. - Mount Healthy Police say a Towne Taxi driver was shot in the face after an argument. The shooting took place around 10:36 P.M. in the 1700 block of Stevens in Mount Healthy.

The amount of cash that cab drivers carry is always minimal as a policy. It's believed that the two men made off with less than $200 in cash. They now each face charges that are punishable up to 30 years in prison for that small amount of money (see ORC 2911).

The cab driver picked up two male suspects at the White Castle, located at Springdale and Colerain Avenue in Colerain Township. A short time later the cab driver was found shot in Mount Healthy. The cab driver has been identified as Michael Montgomery, of Cincinnati.

Two male suspects were later arrested. Montez Wagner, 21, and a 16-year-old male are both charged with Aggravated Robbery and Felonious Assault. Wagner, whose previous arrests include Domestic Violence and Possession Of Drugs, was transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center and the teen arrested was transported to juvenile detention.

Miraculously, Mr. Montgomery is currently listed in stable condition in the intensive care unit at University Hospital.

If convicted, the two will make $6.66 each year that they spend in prison. This is the equivalent of earning one pack of cigarettes for every 365 days spent in Ohio prisons for the next 3 decades consecutively for shooting an unarmed man in the face.

The incident is still under investigation by the Hamilton County Criminal Investigation Section. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 513-352-3040.

UPDATE 06/12/2012
Montez Wagner was sentenced to a total of just 7 years in June of 2012 for all charges including gun charges, Aggravated Robbery and Attempted Murder. Wagner is currently serving his time at Ross Correctional Institution.
