David Robbins CincinnatiA Cincinnati judge convicted an Avondale man Friday of stabbing his stepdaughter to death because she was about to reveal a family secret.

David Robbins was convicted of Murder and Felonious Assault by Judge Nadine Allen for fatally stabbing his stepdaughter Yolanda Smith, 24, to death and seriously injuring his own wife, Doris Robbins, 58.

According to prosecutors, David Robbins fatally stabbed Smith at Sherman Ball Fields in North Avondale in June of 2010. Smith apparently arranged to meet her mother at the ball field to tell her that Robbins was the father of her 4-year-old twins and Robbins followed them.

During that meeting, Robbins went into a uncontrollable homicidal rage and attacked Smith and his wife upon hearing Smith tell her mother that he was the father of his own step-daughter's children. David Robbins went berserk and fatally stabbed his 24-year-old step-daughter in front of the two children he secretly fathered with her and then nearly killed his wife. Robbins and Smith's two 4-year-old children witnessed the stabbing of their mother and grandmother. The children sat helpless as Smith and Doris Robbins were repeatedly stabbed by David Robbins.

David Robbins fatally stabbed his step-daughter and injured his wife in front of his grandchildren/children.

Smith died from her injuries, but luckily Doris Robbins survived the attack. Investigators say the twins, who Robbins is both grandfather and father to, were in the car in the park during the fatal stabbing. Robbins now faces the possibility of life in prison when he is sentenced in February 2012.
