Highschool Student Faces Felony Robbery Charges Over Candy Bars, Attack

Shaquille BakerINDIANAPOLIS - Police have arrested an 18-year-old man who is suspected of violently attacking a clerk during a robbery on the city’s east side earlier on May 2nd of 2011.

The robbery, and violent escape that followed, happened at the Best Food Mart at 3702 East 10th Street when the teen gathered up boxes of candy and attempted to run out of the store. Shaquille Baker, 18, stands accused. He is a student at Arsenal Tech.

An IPS police officer actually recognized the young man from the surveillance video that showed him fighting with a clerk after trying to steal several boxes of candy.

The clerk was not hurt during the course of the robbery.

The other young man who was seen acting as a look-out and waiting outside the convenience store during the altercation turned himself in. He was later released. Baker faces felony Robbery and Assault charges over less than $50.00 worth of candy due to the brutal and violent nature of the Robbery.
