Gayland Bradford 2011DALLAS, TX -Gayland Bradford is sentenced to death. He was tried and convicted of killing a security guard and making off with $7 dollars in December of 1988.

As seen on a surveillance video during his trial, Bradford pulls a pistol, says nothing and without warning shoots the security guard, 29-year-old Brian Williams, in the back.

Bradford, already on parole for another robbery, fired three additional times at the mortally wounded Williams and then yelled for a companion who joins him in trying to take cash from a register.

Police later recovered the security guard's stolen .357 revolver and when they interviewed Bradford in January of 1989 when he gave Dallas-Fort Worth police a voluntary statement. In 1990 he was convicted and sentenced to Death. In 2010, as he awaited execution he was given a temporary stay of sentence when the U.S. Supreme Court granted a motion made by his attorneys.

In early June of 2011, Bradford will be the fourth person executed in Texas this year and the 468th person executed in Texas since 1982. He will be the 229th person executed in Texas since Rick Perry became governor.

In a bizarre twist of fate, Gayland Bradford will be killed by lethal injection. The cost of these chemicals is roughly the same $7 that he killed Williams for nearly 23 years ago.
