A former rape counselor was sentenced to 15 years in prison but will not spend one day in prison.

In the last twelve months, Newport News resident Edwin Rosette has gone from a rape counselor and self-proclaimed Christian minister to an admitted sex offender whose target was the 11 year-old daughter of his live-in girlfriend. The former rape counselor was sentenced to 15 years in prison but will not spend one day in prison.

On Monday December 5th 2011, the 58-year-old man pleaded guilty to Sexually Battery for abusing a girl in his home for several years starting when she was 11 years old.

The victim, now an adult, told authorities last year Rosette raped her nearly every day from the time she was eleven until she was 18.

Newport News Channel 3 uncovered court documents suggesting Rosette taped his sexual encounters with the victim too. If this allegation is true than this makes Rosette a pedophile who actively produced child porn. No charges were filed regarding the videotaped rapes.

In June of 2011 a grand jury indicted Rosette on Rape, Forcible Sodomy and Aggravated Sexual Battery charges.

But Monday he pleaded guilty only to sexual battery and the other charges were not prosecuted.

Then, Judge H. Vincent Conway suspended Rosette's 15 year prison sentence - meaning he won't do time in prison.

We tried to talk to Rosette today. While it appeared someone was at his Dutchess Lane home, no one came to the door.

When police arrested Rosette at his home last year he said he was a counselor at Hampton Mental Health Associates.
