Re-printed from a story at WKRC Channel 12 on May 9th 2012

A man wanted for robbing a Northside woman in March is caught in OTR in May.

One of the Cincinnati Police Department's most wanted suspects tells Local 12 reporter in the scene of his arrest that a poor education led him to a life of crime. Dakota "Derek" Smith is expected to be arraigned this Wednesday morning at 9AM on Theft charges.

Officers arrested Smith, a 26-year-old man man who only stands 5' 6", on Race Street near Green in Over-the-Rhine on Tuesday. Smith is accused of stealing a laptop, a wireless adapter and some cash from a woman on Powers Street in a strong arm robbery in the Northside neighborhood of Cincinnati in late March of 2012.

Smith was on District One's most wanted list. He has a long history of trouble with the law with 29 arrests since 2004 and a two year prison sentence for selling drugs in 2008. Most his arrests were for drugs and theft charges. During the time of his arrest, Smith denied doing anything wrong and said his lack of education is to blame for his actions.
