Crack Dealer Murders Pregnant Woman In Front Of Her Family

Suspect sought in shooting death of a pregnant Cincinnati woman.

CINCINNATI, OH - Police crews investigating a deadly shooting in the Winton Hills neighborhood of Cincinnati. The shooting happened around 4 AM at a home in the 800 block of Dutch Colony Drive.

Upon arrival, officers found a young woman dead from gunshot wounds on the second floor of the home.

Police have identified the victim as Strawberry Edwards, 21. Her family said she was pregnant and also had a 5-month-old baby. Authorities say the baby is safe and in police custody.

The man wanted for her death has been identified as 26-year old Leonard Lanier. Lanier is described as being 5'4, 145lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. Lanier's last known address was in the 4000 block of Romaine Drive. Lanier is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Laniers is convicted crack dealer who has spent time in prison for Drug Trafficking and multiple charges of drugs and paraphernalia.

"She was beautiful, she did not deserve to die the way that she did. She did not deserve that at all." cousin Erica Johnson said.

Leonard Lanier Murder CincinnatiLeonard Lanier, 26, was arrested Wednesday on Sunset Avenue by Cincinnati Police's Homicide Unit and the Fugitive Apprehension Unit for the murder of Strawberry Edwards, 21.

Lanier was allegedly drunk and behind the wheel of a vehicle when CPD identified him as a murder suspect and took him into custody after he'd been on the run from authorities for two months.

Miss Edwards, Lanier's pregnant girlfriend, was shot and killed on February 21st 2013 in the 700 block of Dutch Colony Drive in Walnut Hills.

Shortly after the murder, police identified Lanier as a suspect and issued a reward for information on his whereabouts.
Lanier is being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center on a $750,000 bond.

Leonard Lanier, 28, of Oakley, Ohio, accepted a plea deal that would send him to prison for 28 years instead of Life. He admitted to fatally shooting Strawberry Edwards, 21, the mother of his baby boy, in the head with a handgun on February 21st 2013, at her apartment, authorities said.

Right before Lanier could plead guilty, his brother, Lucian Lanier, and the victim's brother, Jason Edwards, lunged at each other and started to fight, reported local station WKRC.
